We sell homeopathic creams for knee injuries on our site: Arnica, Calendula, Ledum and Ruta. Two remedies that we do not carry can also help: Rhus toxicodendron and Symphytum. Please follow the links at the bottom of this page to read more about these remedies.
Arnica: When Arnica is indicated there can be a dislocated feeling after the injury. Inflammation, pain and synovitis (inflammation of the membrane that lines the knee joint) can also be present. Arnica is the first remedy we think of for shock and trauma, and to reduce hemorrhaging and bruising.
Calendula: Dr. W.M. Gregory says, “Calendula forms the best remedy we have to suppress a violent acute synovitis arising from injury of the knee joint; its use here will prevent effusion and suppuration. Calendula is the greatest non-poisonous germicide, antiseptic, reliever of pain, and healer of wounds that has ever been brought into use.”
Ledum: Ledum can help with knee injuries and sprains. Knerr’s Repertory, says, “Knees: inflammation: synovitis, acute traumatic, with much effusion and feeling of coldness in part.” Characteristic of Ledum is coldness of the part, with amelioration from cold applications. Another guiding symptom is pains that extend upward from the site of the wound.
Rhus toxicodendron: This is a remedy and cream I do not carry, but it is important to mention it here. Rhus tox is listed for knee injuries and sprains. Some of the guiding symptoms to its use are restlessness, aggravation from initial movement but amelioration after the part warms up. Rhus tox is ameliorated by heat and better from stretching.
Ruta graveolens is listed for sprains and injuries to the knees. The genius of this remedy is in injuries to ligaments, tendons and the periosteum, or linings of the bones.
Symphytum is another remedy I do not carry. I mention it here because it has an affinity for bones, and is a great remedy for injured bones. Hering’s Materia Medica, says that Symphytum has acute pain in the injured knee from the touch of clothing after the wound has healed.
